Artist Feature - Poe The Passenger

Hi there, welcome to our first artist feature! I am Nico Rivera, a co-founder of Musaic. At Musaic we are building tools for musicians to monetize their superfans. Right now we are building the best link in bio for musicians. Check us out at

I had the pleasure to interview Poe the Passenger a few weeks ago. We recently partnered with them to raise funds to cover studio expenses for their next EP, and together we earned more than $3K in one month.

On this feature we talk about food in Germany, getting 100K streams on a single, and their creative process. We also go deeper into more personal questions.

For the full interview, listen to the podcast. Below is a summary of what we covered.

Can you describe your sound in two sentences?

If Panic! At the Disco had a baby with Linkin Park, but it was fostered by Twenty One Pilots and The Killers, then later was put up for adoption from Nothing But Thieves and trained in a dojo under the wing of Normandie... and occasionally Arctic Monkeys comes over to spar.

Fun, loving, and sarcastic personality. Tell us one fun fact about you

Jeff was an avid bowler in his youth and his best game is 269, Matt has acquired some of the rarest Pokemon cards on the planet. Before Poe the Passenger, Trent has been in 10 different bands starting from when he was 16... and they all sucked.

What is your creative process like?

We're currently challenging ourselves to write a new song every day for 30 days to complete our debut album. It starts with a simple voice memo, riff, or lyric, and then it's completely collaborative from then on. We are ruthless and won't step away until the skeleton of a song is taking form.

Who/What is your biggest source of inspiration?

Zack... Galifianakis... and our families of course. We are so lucky to have them. We understand there is a big connection with the human condition. The people who appreciate you for being yourself drive a lot of our inspiration.

Can you tell me more about Heart Strings?

Yes, Heart Strings is a thank you to our families. They pushed us to be musicians or at least to follow our dreams and make sure we live a happy life. When wanted to offer an homage for all their support.

What are you most afraid of right now?

Going to a public restroom... and also not living up to our full potential.

If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?

We'd love to see labels/label services take more chances on unsigned artists and work to develop them. The weight is heavy on artists to produce content, post on socials, get engagements, tour, write, interview, etc... without a team its' impossible. We're so thankful to have our management team on our side.

What’s the best advice you would give your younger self?

Everything in moderation. Enjoy the simple moments. It's about the journey, not the destination.

Nice, on a final note. What’s the happiest moment of your life?

For Trent, It was getting to go backstage at Warped Tour and meeting some of his favorite artists from when he was a kid (Hayley Williams, Anthony Green, Claudio). For Jeff, It was following his intuition to move to California barely after his 18th birthday and pursue his dreams of working in the music/film industry, and knowing he had the full support of his family. So many memories, accomplishments, incredible people, and love has come from it. For Matt, it was joining this band, the first time Bowie (his dog) sat when I told her to sit, and of course for legal reasons, the day he met Bianca.
